Project Planning and Budgeting
So you’re ready to start a new project? Did you finish your last one? No? Neither did I! Great, we’re on the same page!
I’m a notorious dabbler AKA: Jill of all trades, master of none. This is honestly quite helpful with having a new house. There’s so much to be done, and it’s more reasonable to overlap projects than try and complete each one in full at a time. Before I ever start a project I need to sit down and plan it out.
Ask yourself these questions:
What is my project?
What do I already have on hand that I can use?
What do I need to buy?
What is on my offical shopping list?
How much money is this going to cost?
Laying it all out allows me to see where I can “trim the fat” and make it more efficient. It’s far more productive than my driving down to WalMart or the Home Depot without first having a plan. Often times I find I already have half of what I need if I just DIG a little. Too often, I also find unexpected expenses…such as buying tools that I need and don’t have on hand. I find this happening fairly frequently, so I try to do my research first. Browsing YouTube for tutorials is priceless because you can see what other people are using for the project you plan to do.
